Fr. Khalid Karomi

Fr. Khalid Karomi was born in 1964 in Nineveh, Iraq.  He committed his life to serving God and right after high school he studied philosophy for two years at the Monastery Saint Shimon Al-Safa in Baghdad.  In 1986 he entered the Monastery Al-Sherfeh in Lebanon and completed his theology at Kaslik’s Holy Spirit University.  In June 22, 1990 he was ordained a priest on the Feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at  Our Lady of Deliverance Cathedral in Baghdad.

Fr. Khalid was sent to Rome in 1994 to specialize in Biblical sciences. After graduating, he was appointed pastor of Saint Behnam, Bagdad.  In 2002 Father Khalid was assigned the Syriac Missionary in Paris.

In 2008 at the request of the Most Reverend Joseph Younan, Bishop of the Diocese of Our Lady of Deliverance in America and Canada, he moved to Montreal to serve the Syriac-Catholic Saint Ephrem Parish, as administrator.

On March 8, 2018, Most Reverend Bishop Nassif assigned Fr. Khalid as pastor of Saint Behnam Mission with a special mandate to convert Saint Behnam into a parish.

On June 29, 2022, Father Khalid was appointed a priest within the Diocese of Hamilton and was assigned as pastor of St. Gregory The Great.  With this assignment the Syriac Catholic parish of St. Behnam also relocated to St. Gregory from St. Clement’s Church.  Fr. Khalid devotedly serves both communities.
